The Weekly Scoop -- Spring 20-21 Edition #23

Greetings Canarsie Cub Families,

Please see our Weekly Scoop for the week of 04/22-04/28 of the 2020-2021 School Year!

I have attached documents, and provided lots of family resources down below. We have quite a lot of information to provide this week, so be sure to read through this issue of the newsletter closely!

April Calendar

Important Reminders and Notifications

Staffing Update: Ms. Faria has transitioned to Assistant Principal of Operations at one of our sister schools. Although this message is bittersweet, we are in great hands here at CALS with our new Operations Manager, Ms. Chavez! Click here for an introduction.

3rd Grade Spelling Bee: On Wednesday, April 28th Ascend will host our first ever Spelling Bee! More information to come, stay tuned!

Mandatory Progress Report Conferences will be held on Thursday, April 29th and Friday, April 30th. Families, be sure to schedule your conference time with your student’s teachers. Asynchronous learning will occur on both days. Click here for instructions on accessing progress reports. These will be available to you once your conference has been completed.

Supply Kit Pick-Up: Starting Thursday, April 29th from 3PM – 4:30PM, families can stop by to collect supply kits for all grades. For students who are in person, supply kits will be given to the child(ren) directly during school hours.

Teacher Appreciation Week will be from May 3rd - May 7th. Show our teachers signs of appreciation by doing either of the following! Click here to view teacher contact info.

Technology Access Reminder: Families, please be extremely careful with any and all technology provided on behalf of Ascend. Usage of laptops and Wi-Fi hot spots should be limited when not in use for school purposes and stored in a safe and secure spot. The better care you give towards the technology, the better it will work.

Family Association Updates

In case you missed it, please see the presentation from the most recent Family Association Meeting

The CALS Family Association is collaborating with the CALS Counseling team on a 2-day workshop in May for Mental Health Awareness Month. Both workshops will be facilitated by NY Project Hope which is a program through Partnership for Children. Both parents and school staff members can attend, so we hope to see you at one of the dates below!
